Starting my 10th Season!

Dear Friends,

I would like to thank you for your patience with the later start to the blueberry season last year. You were so responsive showing up to pick berries during the shorter harvest time. A late spring frost damaged a lot of the first blueberry picking. It was interesting that the bushes produced a plentiful 2nd & 3rd picking, making up for some of the loss. We were gratefully surprised.

It’s amazing to think that this will be the 10th season since Beth, Abby (best dog) and I moved back to the farm on April 1, 2015. You may have heard me joke about the irony of starting our first day at the farm on April Fool’s Day. Beth and I couldn’t really have imagined how much there would be to learn, or all of the curveballs that would come our way.

Thinking back on these past years at the farm there are two changes that I’m excited about and have expanded the range of experiences we offer.

The Guest House at Burdick Blueberries Farm was started in 2019. We utilized a private part of the farmhouse. It’s the place where my Grandfather (farm founder) lived with my Grandmother when I was growing up here.

Originally we envisioned this space as Beth’s art studio—before she jumped into the world of flower farming and retail management with both feet. Over time it occurred to us that it actually was one answer to having income more year round. It came together very organically and dovetailed with our love for hosting.

The Guest House has its own entrances, 2 bedrooms each with en suite baths, a full kitchen and a living room with the BEST VIEW of the blueberry patch and hills.

As a rental it also includes “the bunkhouse” with a double bed, and of course bunkbeds. I have great memories of having friends over as a kid, sleeping in the bunkhouse, swimming in the pool and snacking on blueberries.

It has been an absolute joy having guests stay at the Guest House enjoying the summertime magic or the beauty of other seasons here. The rental is through Airbnb & VRBO. For more info push the FIND OUT MORE button below.

Also in 2019 we started hosting events and weddings. We’ve had a wide range of rehearsal dinners, baby showers, birthday parties and weddings. Most recently, following the blueberry season we hosted two September weddings. Beth did her first full service florals at one, and table arrangements plus a floral arbor at the other. It was a great transition out of the hustle and bustle of the picking season. We didn’t have time to be sad that it was over so quickly.

To wrap up I want to let you know that we have a date for a summer concert. It will be held Thursday, August 15, starting a 6:00 PM. Charles and his band will be returning for a third year. Bring your own picnic too! No entrance fee. Donations appreciated. The patch will also be open for blueberry and flower picking before and during the concert.

We’ve also been considering other events that fit our farm’s quiet and simple style. Please share any ideas you have. Outdoor yoga anyone?
